108 – math teachers’ circle

Just realized I didn’t have anything posted for this day. I do remember that it was our February Math Teachers’ Circle.

Dr. Michael Gagliardo, from CLU, led us through some wonderful ideas of taxicab geometry. We first played Taxicab Treasure Hunt. Then we asked questions of whether or not areas and perimeters of shapes remain unchanged if we applied taxicab math to them.

I may have forgotten to take pictures of all the cool math we worked on — I was busy doing the math — but I did snap a picture of the desserts. (We provide dinner for all participants at our math circle nights — had two kinds of yummy pasta tonight!)
