133- Regents practice test

It’s already that time of the year. We’re taking the state test early in May, and I don’t want to spend solid days of reviewing, instead I’m starting them now and we just do 15-20 minutes every other day.

And I’m only starting with the algebra class. I’m using the Regents Practice Test for “Integrated Algebra.” PDF link is here.

To make it less boring, I let the kids work in pairs or in triads.

This is a multiple choice test, but the choices are [1], [2], [3], and [4] instead of the common A through D choices, so I give them the sum of each group of 5 answers as a way to kinda check their answers. For example, the sum of the answers in #1 through #5 equals 13. They appreciate this extra clue and I’ve made it a social activity. Reviewing for state tests just sucks. No two ways about it.
